Blank Skateboard

A blank skateboard is the starting point for every skateboard. It is simply thin layers of maple pressed together into a symmetrical shape with turned up ends. The edges are rounded off and then the entire deck is sanded giving it a beautiful finish. They can be sealed or unsealed and they typically have the holes already drilled ready for trucks.

A blank skateboard deck can be completely customized with paint, grip tape and almost any parts. Spray paint quickly adheres to the board and dries fast as well making it one of the most popular paints for custom boards although almost any paint will work. Grip tape can be cut out into different shapes and also comes in many colors other than black.

The no longer blank skateboard deck can then be installed with trucks, wheels and bearings. To protect the paint, especially from grinds, it is important to use a hard, thick sealant and many layers of it. It is also nice to be able to change it up at a moments notice.
