Skateboard shops began popping up as skateboarding really took hold of popular culture. They were originally surf shops that sold skateboards which eventually evolved into their own specialized shops. There are many surf, snow and skate combination shops that serve many different sports and styles as well.

A skate shop specializes in everything related to skateboarding from the skateboard decks and hardware to the clothing and shoes. There are movies, stickers, jewelry, wallets, hats and every imaginable accessory available, all related to skateboarding.

Skateboard shops can also help fix broken parts, replace bearings and wheels, and tighten up those bolts. They can make informed suggestions for the beginning riders and even provide tips and tricks for performing tricks for tips. They have all the latest and best gear and most employees at these shops are avid skaters themselves.
